The most harrowing part, being the drive to the trail which involved 20km of gravel road and 10 fords (stream crossings), only 1 of which was dry. Please note - the first ford we drove up to, we were following 5 cars, all of which turned off. Uncle David decided to plow thru. Here is the 2nd ford - you can see the cars that all began to use him as a guide. The fords got more intimidating as we went along.
The walk across the river to the mountain.
That same bridge.
First sighting of the glacier.
After about 2hr 10min uphill, we made it!
I see a glacier.
BTW - Jess thought the coolest thing was hearing a snow avalanche - and then watching the snow slide down the mountain.
The Rob Roy Glacier.
There was a sign on the trail warning of avalanches and advising not stopping for 500 meters. It quickly became clear why.
Girl cousins.
Boy cousins.
Aunt.
The fam.
The walk back to the car which felt very much like something out of The Sound of Music.
Some perspective.
Maybe the most flights Jess has ever walked - these family trips are great for her calves.
