Sam and Jess had a date night. It's a good thing they got there 10 minutes early.  The theater was packed.  So packed that during the action scenes, the teenager who sat right behind Jess, shook his leg and Jess and Sam's chairs so much that Sam, at first, thought this was a 4D movie.

Every Thursday, after music class, Natalie would walk these two over to Chili John's.

Jess' schedule switched to weekends, which meant she did a Thursday pickup complete with their typical routine.  By the time they walked in the door, Justin was bringing them their "pie and beer".  Next came to-go bowls for their oyster crackers and some chatting about music class.

When Jess went to pay the bill, she was told $5.  Justin explained, "That's the price for the regulars."

Madd Max Shows Mimi A CA Halloween

With the Floating Pumpkins at the local pool.

October pool times.

As soon as the fam got home, Max started to carve his pool pumpkin.  His parents asked him to wait. He would not be dissuaded, and managed to get the top off by using a plastic knife and sheer will.  He did manage to convince Taisie to sit with him for a bit.

This eventually got Maddie excited, who in turn wanted to carve hers, and Sam gave in.  The two pumpkins were carved and then sprayed with mildew remover in hopes of making them last longer than 2 days.

Meanwhile, the two grandmothers caught up in the living room.

Jess was working, so the entire fam came down to set and had lunch.  That was pretty cool.

Madd Max Still Love DnD

Aiden and Sonia on one half of the Skype call and Tio Greg on the other.  To make everyone's schedules work, the call was set up for 7:00am so they could get in a 2 hour session.  The kids were so excited that they were up at 6:30am.

The Scrapper Takes Up The Flute

Maddie decided this year she wanted to try out the flute.  When hers arrived in the mail, Max was enthralled and asked to take lessons as well.  He is loving it, loves learning the notes, practicing the music, all of it.  Here's his rendition of the old classic, "Hot Cross Buns."  Watch that smile at the end.

Madd Max Enjoy Day 2 In Central Cali

Jess woke up to the quails' morning commute across the wall - traffic could really build up if one quail stopped moving.

After packing up the house, we headed to Taco Temple where the kids entertained themselves during the wait.

Then over to Caucus State Beach.

Where Maddie dug a hole so deep she hit water and Max, Maya and Dexter played in the surf.

Todd, Kears, Jess and Sam all chilled on the beach in the perfect weather, sipping coffee.  Not a bad way to spend an afternoon with great friends.
