Slappy Feels the Love

In her room that is. Here's another view of it, and everywhere you look - there are pieces of the people who love her. A mobile from Jamie,a baby monitor from Kathleen and Eric, pictures taken by Dad on the wall, a diaper pail from Marcus, curtains and pillows from Alison, fuzzy bunnies from Scott and Marissa, and pictures of her friends finally up on the wall, who you may recognize from earlier in this blog. (Jess is 38 weeks pregnant).

Slappy also knows that it's all about the details. In one of her favorite corners of her room, there is a shelf that holds on it a lamp designed and painted by Taisie, 2 creatures from Kears and Todd's wedding, a tile from Cuba brought back by Francoise and Eddie, and her favorite picture of her Dad eating a cantalope.

Slappy Celebrates the Inside

Or rather her parents celebrated her upcoming arrival to the outside with a "This is the Last Time... (you fill in the blank)" tapas party. Slappy also got to learn that beer bottles in a fire pit, don't explode - they melt. We also celebrated Jamie joining us in the ranks of the thirty-somethings. Happy Birthday!! (Jess is 37 weeks pregnant).

Slappy Doesn't Sleep in Drawers

Not anymore! Her crib arrived this weekend, and Sam began the process of putting it together.
Look what I can do!

Slappy Goes Wild

At Hollywood Animals, where Greg showed us around the ranch, and Slappy learned that bears love marshmallows. Note the black lump by Greg's head, which is actually the leopard that used to come to bbqs when he was a much smaller size (as a cub, he was slightly larger than a weiner dog - now he's 60 lbs. and working his way to 100+).Arthur put on his stripes to become part of the white tiger's pride.
The male lion thinks he's a furry house kitty. Rub my belly, Greg, rub my belly.
But don't be fooled, that same lion is pacing with excitement as he observes two tasty children under the age of five, who are covered by Slappy in this pix. A true house cat would run under the bed at the first sight of small children. (Jess is 36 weeks pregnant).

Slappy Enjoys High Altitudes

This weekend Slappy went to Big Bear. Sam wore a skirt. No - he wore a towel after the hot tub.
The first night we celebrated Feldie's birthday through glorious song.
The Chadwicks taught Slappy how to pickle.
Erin taught Slappy about menswear.
And in true Big Bear tradition - we ate. Bacon. Lots of bacon.
And Chex Mix.
And enjoyed sweet relaxation.
In and out of water. The Big Bear Chickens - Jess and Alex, Arthur and Liza Mae, Jess and Sam, and John and Erin. Feldie was obviously sad to leave. (Jess is 34 weeks pregnant).

Slappy Knows a Nominee

That's right - the one in the middle, no, not the small one, the adult sized one, Todd. Todd is nominated for a Visual Effects Society award. The Awards are being held this weekend at the Kodak Theater in LA. (Jess is 33 weeks pregnant). Note: This is not Slappy.
Maya allowed Sam to practice his skills, both with parental supervision (i.e. Kearsley approved) and without (i.e. Kears and Todd went to the Awards show, and we did it on our own).
A lunch in Studio City - pre-awards.
UPDATE: My Daddy's a winner! Of the Best Compositing in a Motion Picture Award for his work in "Transformers".

Slappy Shows Off Her Friends

These pictures of her soon-to-be-cohorts - Lilly, Emma, Mateo and Maya - will be placed above her crib, ie dresser drawer. What a gorgeous bunch!

Slappy Likes Hot Dogs

And so does Oscar - he modeled her outfit from Holly and Tano, so she could get an idea of how she would rock it when the time comes.

Slappy Redecorates

Slappy finally began to move into her room this week, bringing in a changing table complete with diapers - YUM - and curtains and pillows hand-made by Alison. She may end up sleeping on this table, as her crib is due to arrive when she does.

Slappy Gets A Shower of Joy

Francoise and Mimi get ready to head over to the shower - both of them came in for less than 48 hours to celebrate with us. (Jess is 31 weeks pregnant).
We arrive at the shower where food and drink seemed to be coming off of every surface - obviously this was thrown for a Kender. Marissa and Aarin, our great friends and hostesses, even went as far as to bake and frost these cookies themselves (although they both said the prettiest ones were frosted by Chuck).
Then it was time to have Taisie and Grandpa Toby join the party. They took their Statler and Waldorf seats and were able to chat and enjoy the shower from their upstairs den in Rhode Island.
Don't eat the babies!
Outside, our friends worked on custom onesies and bibs for Slappy. We'll try to show them all off once Slappy can actually get inside them - perhaps in a special "Stuff on My Baby" section of this blog.
It was amazing how much love, i.e. loot, was brought for our little girl.
The hostesses - Aarin showing off one of Slappy's new books, and Marissa making diligent notes, so that Sam and Jess can appreciate each gift.
This clothesline of goodies got pulled across the living room floor.
Oscar is already getting jealous about this one - perhaps another deal is in the making.

Slappy Gets Her Own Old School Style

After the Art Dept enjoyed Track Suit Friday, the production assistants in the office felt that she should be able to continue to enjoy it once she arrived on the outside. Please note that Oscar is now the only one who isn't down.

Slappy Gets a Cousin

Aunt Rachel and Uncle David are in Panama right now, researching bats, working on textbooks, and growing a cousin for Slappy (well, maybe not just for Slappy, but that's what she likes to think). Rachel is 14 weeks pregnant with El Pequeño.

Slappy Does Christmas in Jersey

First, Slappy headed in to see the Rockefeller Center Tree - okay, so it's not Jersey, but it's just across the bridge.
Then she worked on developing a love for Broadway as guided by Leon.
She got to visit with her favorite sign-language using, bi-lingual, super cool friend, Mateo, his mom, Francoise and papi, Eddie.
Next came the good doctor, Kerry, who still refuses to deliver her, eventhough she totally knows how.
Then to see Uncle Ant and Dedo, formerly known as the President. Aunt Tara and Tio Greg wisely read and script wrote in the other room.
And Uncle Wills - her family is strange.
