Why are these 2 so happy?

 Since 2000, they have been heading to Big Bear on bi-annual weekend gatherings, and this was that weekend.  

There was the standard drinking and chatting.

 And eating. 

But with one change, this time there were children.

Children who chatted by the fire.

And who were very excited with the 1/2" of snow because it meant snowballs.

 Although after 9pm, the adult activities continued, i.e. Cards Against Humanity.
