Madd Max Enjoys Palm Springs Dining

This may be the first time in their lives that both kids entirely cleaned their plates at a restaurant.

And in the morning, some breakfast by the pool.

Followed by a little swimming.

Madd Max Enjoys Borrego Springs Sky Art

In the middle of the town (which has a lot of flat desert), there are 130 large metal sculptures spread out over a 10 mile radius.  When you see them from the main roads, you are able to drive onto the property and walk right up.  These elephants were the first ones the fam spotted.

The serpent, which goes underneath a main thoroughfare and is by far the coolest one we saw.

Madd Max Makes The Second Questionable Choice

A hike in Borrego Springs thru the desert.

It tuns out that Jess does not like the typical So-Cal desert hike - they're pretty hot and not that interesting, even if they do end in an oasis.

The outdoor toilet was interesting, though.  Poo with a view.

Madd Max Makes Two Questionable Choices

The Post-Thanksgiving plan was to head to Encinitas to meet up with the Higgins-Vaziri clan, and then head to Torrey Pines for a hike by the ocean as a group. 

When the flu took down both Dexter and then Maya, Jess decided that in honor of the get-together-that-was-not-to-be, the fam would head to Leo Carrillo Beach for a close to home hike.  Turns out the Malibu fire reached all the way out there.  This is a lifeguard stand.

Despite the strong spell of ash, the kids had a great time.

Sam and Jess made them leave after some good times due to air quality fears.

After the Science Center, the fam headed into Manhattan to get Uncle Ant's tour of the Oculus, a project he helped design.

Back at home, Sonia supervised the kitchen decorating.

Madd Max Heads To The Liberty Science Center

Science is fascinating.

Mimi had arranged a Watson Adventures scavenger hunt.

The fam broke into teams - Mimi, Dozee, Uncle Wills and Aunt Ally: The Overeducated.
