Madd Max Hike To Heron Pond

Jess was 2 weeks in to breaking her foot, and decided to see how going on a short hike would go.

Frank Bolles Nature Preserve.

Looking for Indian cucumber on the way.

Found it.

Also found, more little toads.

Heron Pond was showing off.

And all the kids and Aunt Rachel got in to swim to the middle.

There were also tons of tadpoles in shallows to enjoy.

Could Jess look any more like she was in her natural environment?  BTW - the hike was a success.

Slappy Has A First Day Of Work

Morning crossword puzzles (at one point, Simon even made his own).

Afternoon barn hockey.

There has been so much rain that the dock is almost covered.

The lawn is covered in these tiny, wild strawberries.

Paddle boarding in the swollen lake.

Arrival at their first day.

Maddie ushered in the balcony.

Gwen was in the orchestra.  This also happened to be the night that the fam had tickets to Nunsense, so the parents and grandparent were able to watch the girls working, with great pride.

Slappy Has A Gwen Day

All the ladies headed out to Portland for a day to celebrate Gwen and her 15th.  It began with a beauty lesson at Sephora. Photo pre-makeup application.

Gwen wanted a natural, slightly dewy look. It came out perfect, and she left with the supplies, a gift from Taisie, to duplicate it.

The second part of the day - mall shopping.

Up next, a mediterranean meal at Nura.

Followed by a classic, local bookstore.

And Maddie's fav, a few blocks away - a comic book store.

Batgirls - very apropos.

Next, some walking around downtown Portland.

Which included this 8-week-old puppy.

And a stop at Zephyr, a shaved ice shop.

Which was insane good (they made their own fruit sauces).

The group arrived home after a long day to vegan and classic Super Nachos and margaritas, a perfect end.

 

Also the perfect beginning to 20+ more years for Sam and Jess - Happy 20th Anniversary to us!
