Their first game of the playoffs, and they won against the best seated team 7-3!!!!  

Their first win; not a bad way to round out the season.

Madd Max Has Spring Break

And Elizabeth had a teachers strike, which meant a weekday hang out.

On a (light) rainy afternoon, where Maddie's hair stuck to her helmet, and Max waited for a ride home rather then bike in the definitely-more-then-when-we-biked-over rain.

Madd Max Goes To JBHS Open House

The expressions on these two.

 

Max was pretty nervous, as the high school is much larger than his middle school (851 vs 2500 students).  Maddie took Max around to all of the student activities booths and to each of her classes all over campus to show him what a typical day was like, including teaching him which side of the stairs to walk on to not annoy the rest of the student population.

Slappy Has A Meet

After 2 weeks of a stomach bug, Maddie was able to practice for 2 days.

She got 5'-6" in pole vaulting.

And was the only one to place, as the other girls DQ'd.

She got 25-1 in triple jump.

Which meant 2nd place.

And 8th out of 12 in the 200 with 31.99.

She was disappointed with her scores, but Jess suggested that perhaps the 2 weeks out had some type of effect.  She was less disappointed when she realized she still placed in 2 events.

Slappy Has H. Pylori

A stomach bacteria, which needs a strong course of 3 meds, including 2 antibiotics.  Here she enjoys her twice daily app.  

H. pylori is spread thru person to person contact or thru contact with vomit or stool.  When Jess expressed her sadness at Madd's heavy antibiotics (which can cause further stomach issues), Max's response was, "Well, that's what you get from kissing boys and eating poop."

Slappy Gets Windblown

 

While Maddie could not participate in this week's meet due to still recovering from her stomach bacteria, she was on the field to help with the events as needed.

It was a windy day.

Slappy Goes To Her First Screening

Madd Max Gets Snow

Which meant the planned Big Bear trip was cancelled due to a massive storm including a blizzard, so a mini Big bear gathering was in order, complete with homemade soup dumplings by Lilly.

Not nearly as big or as snowy a house.

 

Although, the company was still quite nice.

 

As was the cookie bar.

Madd Max Does Even More College And Burbank

 

Maddie stayed home due to illness, which meant some morning game time, while Mateo and his parents headed to Chapman, Irvine and USC.

Fresas.

Lucia and Valentina did some Burbank rock climbing, where they were so good, they were invited to join a rock climbing club.

Gassed out after an hour and a half.

No visit would be complete without a stop at Sliders.

And of course, some Jackbox TV.

Slappy Heads To Disneyland

The morning started with a trip to Donut Prince, a classic LA joint complete with autographed photos on the wall.

On the tram to the park - Valentina's excitement was contagious.

Everyone headed right to the Star Wars area.

The Disney crew.

She begged for cotton candy.

One of Tante's favorite rides (not so much for Jess).

At the end of the night, Maddie begged for one more ride, so they tried their luck with the single rider lane in Star Wars land, and got right in.

A nice way to end a full day.

Madd Max Visits Some College

But first, some morning gaming.

Followed by robot delivered drinks at Kura Revolving Sushi.

Along with some conveyor sushi.

Then it was down to UCLA, for the first of many college visits.

The soon-to-be college man, Mateo.

So dope.

Slappy Has Her First Tack Meet

She ran the 200 Meter Dash and came in 5th of 14 with a time of 30.91; she was second in her heat.  It was exciting to watch.  She also did the triple jump and came in 4th of 5 with a 25-8.50 (Jess does not know what this means).

Slappy Gets Her Varsity Letter

Varsity as a freshman, due in part (mostly) to the fact that the Varsity girls did not have enough people to qualify so Madd got moved up.  Her expression reflects the way she felt about lettering thru these channels. She did say she, for sure, was using this on her college applications.

Perhaps a great parenting decision, perhaps not.  Either way - Jess was thrilled and the kids thought it was hilarious.
