With the old vinyl flooring taken out, the original subfloor was exposed. Also exposed was a 1944 penny that had been underneath the original hardwood. This inspired Sam to put back not only that penny, but also a 2003 penny (the year Sam and Jess were married) by the door to the master bedroom and a 2012 penny (since no 2013 were able to be located), all of which will be covered by the new hardwood floors.
