The Scrapper Has A New Bike

Max has been riding his kid bike up until today, and getting frustrated with how much faster his sister could go than him.
Even though this bike is considerably bigger and has gears, he figured it out right away.  And then quickly out rode his sister.

Madd Max Has A Halloween Watson Adventure

For this Kender Koffee, Mimi put together a trivia game that the family could all participate in.  The Burbank Kender-Pages and Bloomfield Kenders were Team Good.  Dozee picked the team names.  The rest of the family were on Team Awesome.
The fam also made spooky treats to showcase. These are what Mimi sent out - inside was a chocolate truffle like center.  Jess thought they were creepy mummies.  It turns out they were ghosts.
Maddie and Jess made these.
Originally, they were supposed to be vampire fangs, but they didn't have the silvered almonds needed for the fangs nor enough red food coloring.  They still tickle Jess.

Madd Max Say Goodbye To Lake Arrowhead

Goodbye, cabin!
The SoCal children, who do not understand the meaning of 45 degrees, and were confused as to why their bodies felt so uncomfortable.

Madd Max Has Some Fire

It was cold at night.  The fire was perfect.
Along with a couple of rounds of Codenames right by it.
And more family movie watching. This time, True Lies.

Madd Max Hike The Tunnell Road To Sawmill Trail

After ditching the Grass Valley Lake hike, that turned out to not be a hike, the fam headed out to the trail that was a half block from the rental house.  It was gorgeous.
Sibs.
Jess in her natural habitat, phone camera in hand.
Hiking generations.
The fam.
Not a lot of fall, but still fantastic.
Group selfie.
Max declared he was now, "a country boy."
This guy.

Madd Max Has More Arrivals

Breakfast on the deck.
Reading and texting with Taisie, who arrived with Sam in the morning.
Lunch on the other deck.
Some cozy reading and crossword puzzling.
And the first attempt at a hike around Grass Valley Lake, which ended up being a walk thru the neighborhoods on the streets.
Jess was in search of fall.  The weather definitely felt like a perfect fall day.  And there it is - all the way in the back there.... behind the No Trespassing sign and the electrical boxes...
