Madd Max Settles Into Chocorua

Men on phones in kitchens.

Men with oars, cleaning beaches.
Teens on rafts, relaxing.

Madd Max Starts On Day Two

Very cute BnB breakfast.
Followed by a drive to Scots Bay where Jess stopped for an even cuter lunch at The Long Table Social Club.
Lobster Benedict with a view of the Bay of Fundy.
Then it was time for the 9 mile hike of of Cape Split.
It was quite misty, then rainy, then repeat.
Oh Canada, always so charming.
The point of the peninsula.
The day ended in Wolfsville at a Chinese restaurant where Jess got her first fortune in French.

Madd Max Begins Eat, Pray, Love

Lunch at the Kejimkujik National Park cafe on a picnic bench on the edge of the lake.
A hike thru the Hemlocks and Hardwoods Trail.
Nature finds a way.
A second hike on the Mill Falls Trail.
And then it was over to Digby for the evening.
Where Jess got in a quick zoom with Chase.
Digby is known as the scallop capital of the world, so there was only one obvious choice for dinner.  The scallops were mediocre, but Jess blames the preparation, not the scallops.
During dinner, she read Taisie's book, where she came across this photo that is essentially Maddie with brown hair.  Those genes are strong.

Madd Max Leaves The Skosh

A last look at their last home.

The ferry from Yarmouth, NS to Bar Harbor, ME that Sam compared to a 90s cruise liner.

Whale spout off in the distance.
They were greeted on the other side by Taisie and Gwen.

And then knocked out in the 4 hour drive to Chocorua.

Meanwhile, Jess found a coffee shop and began to plan her 3 day Eat, Pray, Love - the beginning of her first full weekend off in 2 months.

Madd Max Have A Last Nova Scotian Day

21 Years today!
The fam enjoyed an outdoor dinner on the garden patio of Chicory Blue, which hosts dinners and events on Friday nights in the town of Blockhouse.
Followed by a celebratory glass of wine and the sunset on the deck at home.

Madd Max Celebrates 21 Years

But first, a trip with Madd to Mahone Bay for some exploring, ie shopping.
And that evening, a dinner out for Sam and Jess to celebrate their anniversary at Sweet Pea, the Lunenberg restaurant that Jess had been hoping to get to.

Madd Max Checks Out Jess' Work

Private beach.
Private dock that Jess got to design.
And a little post storm help.

Madd Max Works In Lunenberg

On one of their hottest days.  Jess never thought she would be wearing a tank in the Skosh, as one week before she had on her winter jacket in the morning.
The rest of the fam hit a local beach with very cold water.
And Jess saw the most massive nest.
Which housed an osprey that got very mad when she got out of the car to take it's picture.

Madd Max Has The Best Day Ever

Jess was prepping on the Lunenberg Waterfront, and was about to head to Dartmouth when she saw Maddie biking up.  This meant they got to have lunch together before Jess made the 1hr 20 min drive to check on set.  It made Jess' day.
When Jess got back late that night, Sam had prepped cinnamon rolls for breakfast in the am.

Madd Max Head To Lunenberg

After a week in Halifax and a week in Dartmouth, it was time to head west.  On the way, the fam stopped at the beach outside Jess' old place in Hubbards.
And also at her favorite restaurant for lunch, where they celebrated Sam on Father's Day.
With another lobster roll for Max.
Dinner with their great father in their new home.

Madd Max Have A Last Cousin Halifax Morning

Breakfast out.
Every restaurant in the Skosh that Jess has been to serves real maple syrup.  Amen.
Set visit.
And a quick Kender Koffee.
Before dinner, Jess met Nzingha at The Fo'c'sle Village Pub, Nova Scotia's oldest pub, open since 1769.

Madd Max Hear Some Sea Shanties

Slightly skeptical, slightly interested - although maybe that better describes Jess.
In matching with the maritime theme of Nova Scotia, Mimi found an Irish Ale House where you could enjoy dinner in while listening to a concert of old sea shanties.
It turned out to be a blast contrary to what these faces suggest.
