Max had been begging for a playdate with Evan, even when Jess expressed concerns because they hadn't seen each other in over 8 months.  Max was adamant that that was all the more reason to get together with his "best friend."  Turns out Evan felt the same way.

Madd Max Have A Camping Day Cut Short

It began with a breakfast with the Boy Scouts and family, as it was Family Camp at the Ventura KOA in Santa Paula.

Then some chill time.

Followed by some tent reading for Max.

And some wading and actual swimming for Madd.

A walk - because boys who have casts can't bounce - on the giant trampoline.

Then down to the stream where the scouts were building 2 dams.

Dam.

Sam and Max skipped stones, attempting to get the stones to skip from one pool created by the dam to another and then down the river.  They succeeded a few times.

Shortly after, Maddie began to feel not so great in the 100 degree weather, the culprit turning out to be dehydration.  She threw up.  Then a wasp flew over to eat the vomit.  Then the family packed up and came home.

Madd Max Has Another Chadwick Movie Night

Where Arthur manned the pizza oven.

All prepping for "The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai Across the 8th Dimension."

The movie began with a presentation by Morgan because we are all nerds and this is what we do for fun.  And it was for reals, fun.

And for the icing on the cake - Madd Max stayed home for the first time without a sitter and put themselves to bed.  After gaining confidence from the leave-them-at home-while-we-wine tasting, and the fact that both sitters were booked, the fam decided to test the arrangement.  Sam and Jess were about 10 min away and had the kids check in on the hour until they went to bed.  Everyone declared it a success the next day - Madd Max enjoying the fact that, "No one was telling us what to do."

To Sam, one of the delights of camping is seeing the warm glow of a tent nestled in the trees as you head in for the night.

The Scrapper Gets A New Cast

This one, below the elbow.

Max is having a pretty great time with the cast.  He stopped using the sling after the first day, and it appears to barely register with him that he's wearing a cast at all.  Except that now he gets to miss PE, doing dishes and gets baths, all of which he is really digging.

Unlike his first cast, he is allowing people to sign this one.  Jess and Sam were the first two to do so.
