Madd Max Go To The Monster Truck Race
Where Jess learned the difference between a rally and a race.
Maddie's fav part.
At the beginning there were monster trucks and fireworks and bursts of flame and big jumps.
Which soon became a race, and then another race, and so on. Apparently the fam got to see the sport of monster trucks rather than the spectacle.
Max still totally dug it.
Madd not so much.
We left at intermission (it was 9pm), after telling Max the trucks were also going to sleep.
While another race is not in the future, the fam is still open to a rally.

The Scrapper Gets A Playdate
His third playdate that was done just for him. He invited "His #1, Stella." He was ecstatic.
Maddie had Aurelia over, and all 4 played with Barbies for an hour and 15 min. By themselves. With no adult intervention. Quietly. What!?!

The Scrapper Goes To The Dentist
And was a total pro. He even gave a thumbs up during his plaque cleaning. He also got a warning about 2 cavities starting on the back of his molars.
Maddie did not do well, but got a clean teeth bill of health.

Madd Max And Mimi
Mimi came to watch Maddie for the second week that she needed off of preschool. The kids were thrilled.

Slappy Comes To Mom's Work
Mimi brought Maddie down for lunch, where she had her first Shirley Temple.
Later, she was fascinated by the fact that all the plumbing on the sets was pretend. That and that only some of the drawers were dressed with things.

Madd Max Weren't In Pittsburgh
But Jess and Arthur were, where they worked with design students from the School of Drama. That's Jess' former professor, Anne, on the right.

Slappy Makes Out
Post operation, she arrived home and got snacks from the Production Office.
An awesome beading kit from Aunt Tara and the cuzs - she spelled her name first thing.
And a Barbie playdoh making kit from Tante.
All were put to good use in her week staying home from school while waiting for the skin graft to heal.

Slappy Hangs
For the 2 weeks following Maddie's operation, she is not allowed to run or jump. This means no preschool. With Jess out of town for 2 days and Sam working, she had the best time ever. Mornings with Elizabeth.
Afternoons with Fiona and Ellie.
Morning.
Afternoon.

Madd Max Head To The SF Zoo
It was ridiculously windy outside, but you would not know it from the jacket-less children.
Some awesome things about the zoo.
The feeding of the grizzlys, who ran out and fished for live prey.
Standing like a flamingo.
The compost section of the trash bins.
The carousel.
And the train.

Madd Max Arches
But first a little game playing on the iPad.
Then it was time for some schooling by Sam.
Who arched in his earlier days.
Maya went solo.
And a little lovin' at the end of the night.

Madd Max Heads To The Jelly Belly Factory
But first, a little coffee.
Having a friend ride with you = awesome.
The all-you-can-eat sample bar.
Also awesome.
And the tour - which the adults realized would be much better during the week, when the machines actually run.

Slappy Is One Day Post Surgery
Major bandages off, and sweet gifts arriving from the Art Dept.
A family meal.
And superhero animals.

Slappy Has Surgery
To correct a puncture of her eardrum caused by a local ENT during a routine cleaning.
It was tough on both kiddos.
But the recovery was quick - after a nap, Maddie began decorating a pony.
And by 4pm, she was up blowing bubbles and eating pizza.
