Madd Max Has A Sleepover

Sort of. Sam, Victoria and Emma all came over for a late night fiesta. It began with "Bolt," jammies and chocolate chip cookies.
Max made it only until 7:30, when the sofa bed was pulled out and popcorn was brought out for "The Little Mermaid." Maddie made it until 9. The last three made it until 10, helped by the fact that whenever one would get tired, the other two would quickly comment on how very not tired they were.

On the bus, that is. Round and round.

Madd Max Celebrate ELF And Two Years

At ELF's Yo Gabba Gabba birthday party that came complete with a baby goat and baby bunny petting zoo, courtesy of Greg and Suzanne.
With the Leonhardt ladies back on the West Coast, Maddie and her BFFs spent hours in the pool.
Energy spurred on by a Toodee, sugar-filled birthday cake.
Ah, baby bunnies and Dad laps.
Happy Birthday, Ellie!

Madd Max Eats With Forks

And plays with bowls of goldfish.
After watching ELF and Maddie, digging into their mac-n-cheese with utensils, Max got his big chance, and loved it. He even watched Ellie feeding Maddie, and tried to join in on that action.

The Scrapper Weighs In

At his one-year checkup, stats as follows:

Weight: 20lbs (10th percentile)
Height: 29.5 in (30th percentile)
Head Circumference: 18.5 cm (50th percentile)

The doctor called him solid, said he look like his sister, and that he expected him to be tall but perhaps a late bloomer. And then they high-fived.

The Scrapper Turns One

One year ago today.
And today!
Max got presents from Karol. Maddie not only helped with the opening, but got the added benefit of consolation presents as well.
Then there were cupcakes.
And more presents from Morena for both.
And more cupcakes when Mom and Dad got home.
As a final birthday surprise, Max figured out how to walk through the length of an entire room.
Happy Birthday, Max Attacks!
We love you, and think you're awesome. Way to grow into such a cool one-year old.

Madd Max Eats Popsicles

At Morena and Karol's house.
Where they have also been enjoying the chance to do some swimming, something Maddie loves to talk about with her folks.

Madd Max Dines With Friends

The Findleys for breakfast and lunch.
Maddie and ELF entertained themselves for about 3 hours without the need for adult interaction... which = hours of adult conversation.
Then it was dinner and a movie (Toy Story) with Emma.

The Scrapper Walks

Not far, but it's definitely walking. He is very, very pleased.

Madd Max Fights

Today when Jess got home from work, Max bore this wound on his arm. Morena had gone into the kitchen to grab the kids a snack. Maddie had just finished cleaning up her toys in preparation to go outside, and Max had begun to pull them all out. Since she knows they need to be clean to go outside, she decided it was time to stop/discipline/assert dominance...
But for those of you who think that Max was an innocent bystander, Maddie was also crying when Morena ran back into the room. Although it's hard to see, she found Max with his fingers scratching into Maddie's cheek. As she put it, "He's not an angel either."
And so it begins. Ding, ding, ding!

The Scrapper Has A Pillow Fort

AKA his bed.
After a failed attempt at placing the kiddos in the same room, Max now has a reinforced pillow structure wherein he sleeps. You do what you have to in a small house.

With Dad, back at the ranch.
While Jess enjoyed a breakfast with the new family of four before heading back home.

Madd Max Sends Mom Out

For a quick trip to RI to meet new baby Atticus.
Mr. Atticus spent a lot of his time either sleeping or cuddling with Mom, Kerri.
Dad, Derek.
Or brother, Smooth Andre. Jess got in some quality time with the Michael brothers as well.
Even joining in on bedtime stories.
Which would lead you to believe that house then went to sleep. Not so - Derek was left at home with his boys while Kerri and Jess headed out for an adults only dinner.

Madd Max Celebrates The 5th Of July

At Elizabeth and Jim's, with some Dandy the dog love.
And spinning for an audience. There was also a good half hour spent opening and closing the screen door.

Madd Max Meets Fireworks

"Fireworks, you say? Fabulous!"
The fam headed over to the Williams household for their annual BBQ.
By day, there was chatting and noshing.
Grilling.
And drinking.
The ice bucket of beer was a favorite with all ages; ELF and Maddie using it to fill teacups that were poured into a teapot and an ice cream truck.
By night, it became an entirely new world. On all sides, including on the street in front of the lawn, there were gigantic illegal firework displays.
Max was not scared, but was very tired and fought falling asleep on Dad to see the action.

Maddie was thrilled, not wanting to even take a minute to change into her pajamas for fear of missing any. The entire drive home was full of discussions that went, "Fireworks! Awesome!... Fireworks! Awesome!"

Slappy Has A Date

With Mom. The two headed out for a 10:15 showing of "Toy Story 3" and lunch.
This was Maddie's first movie since she has been old enough to understand what a movie is. While she did move from seat to seat, which was acceptable since the theater was only 25% full, she watched the entire thing without complaint. The next day was spent asking for, "Woody, Buzz, please."
A lunch of fries and grilled cheese followed.
Which was particularly awesome since we met up with ELF and her mom too.
