The crew, seen here by the Freedom Bell, took the train out of Union Station into NYC.  Max enjoyed doing puzzles on the train and said he preferred train travel over flying.

And the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum.  

Mimi also arranged for Maddie to visit the Library of Congress solo, which she was very impressed by.

After dinner, the group returned to the Air & Space Museum for a lecture, and more museum viewing.  This time the museum was only open to the lecture audience, which alleviated the crowds.

Mimi had a packed trip planned.  First stop - the Capital.

Next up, the International Spy Museum.

 

Complete with Bond in Motion exhibit.

Super spy.

The evening rounded out with a night tour of 10 attractions at the National Mall, including the Martin Luther King Jr Memorial.

The Scrapper Smells Like Cologne

With the kids in DC, Sam and Jess went to the movies via the mall.  A few days before, Max had been there and gotten a half bottle of cologne spilled on his shoe.  This meant he smelled strongly of horny teenager.  Jess did a load of wash with his pants in it.  This meant the entire fam smelled of horny teenager.  (When Jess picked him up a week later from DC - the scent of mahogany teakwood still lingered on his shoes).

Jess went to judge their Reel Loud Film & Arts Festival.  There were 9 minute silent films set to live music, and they were great.  (Also - the campus was beautiful.)
